Clay Whistle: Clay Whistle - Ceramic Horn - A Childhood Gift

HiPs was captivated at first sight by the many clay whistles lined up on the shelves of the Phước Tích pottery workshop in Phong Hoà, Huế. Each one is shaped with an innocent, unaffected charm, and no two are alike, which stirs up childhood memories that are hard to put into words. These terracotta whistles have been part of many generations' childhoods, and their sound keeps echoing endlessly through our memories. 

After being carefully selected and "spruced up", the clay whistles on display at HiPs have made many customers stop to admire them. Perhaps in that moment a few happy memories come flooding back? ☺️

We named our clay whistles Summer Kids because these animals from the 12 zodiac signs are made by local villagers, mostly children during their summer holidays. For them, the pottery workshop is a place to play and to try their hand at the craft. That is why every whistle has its own shape, depending on the imagination and spirit of the small hands that made it.
