Workshop “Hue's Tropical Garden” – Hands-on with the art of shaping mung bean cakes

From a small cake to a journey of preserving the essence of Huế

Huế cuisine stands out not only for its refined flavors but also for its highly aesthetic art of presentation. In this workshop, you'll meet a Huế pastry artisan and learn about the handmade process behind seemingly simple mung bean cakes. Every pinch, mold and shape demands care, precision and love for the craft. At the workshop, you'll shape familiar fruits yourself – mango, mangosteen, chili, custard apple, papaya… – each cake a miniature work of art holding the quiet charm and finesse of the ancient capital's cuisine.

An accessible hands-on experience for all ages

No special skills needed – just a little curiosity and a willingness to learn, and you'll easily keep up with the cake-making steps under attentive guidance. The workshop is designed to be friendly to beginners and is especially suitable for children aged 6 and up, young food lovers, or families looking for a meaningful weekend together. Every participant will take home cakes they made themselves – not just a sweet gift, but a lovely memory of an afternoon touching Huế culture with all the senses.
